2014 Essentials for Brides

Happy 2014 beautiful brides!
I wanted to start the year by sharing with you some of my favourite items to help you embrace your time as a bride-to-be. Getting-hitched is not an easy process and it can be quite stressful at times, but in the preparation to this day, you get to pamper yourself and pick pretty girly things to beautify your world so that you look and feel absolutely gorgeous on your wedding day!

1.  Kérastase Cristalliste – Bain and Lait Cristal: You want luminous glossy long hair? Give this line a try – it will change your life! The results are instant and you can truly see how shinier and lighter your hair feels. This is not so much a treating line, as it is a beautifying product for long-haired girls. I would recommend using a full bottle during the months prior to your big day.

2.  Lush Buffy Body ButterThis wonder cube, made of cocoa and shea butters, leaves your skin so smooth and polished, your fiancé won’t be able to keep his hands off of you! This exfoliant/body butter promises to help eliminate lumps and bumps and slough away dry skin cells to reveal brighter, fresher looking skin. Make it a ritual! Once a week, massage the Buffy body butter all over your wet skin (paying attention to dry areas like ankles, knees and elbows), rinse and pat dry. No need for body lotion that day – a great winter rescue, right?

3.  A cute 2014 agenda: 2014 will be filled with appointments, rehearsals, fittings, tastings and much more. Being an organized bride, means being a stress-free bride. So pick an agenda that reflects your personality or find one in your wedding colour scheme so you can use it as a swatch wherever you go.

4.  Maybelline Baby LipsThose lips better be kissable when you say I do! Every night before going to bed, apply a generous amount of lip balm and let your lips recuperate over night. When needed, you can also exfoliate your lips by using a soft-bristle toothbrush. Simply wet it with warm water and, very gently, rub it against your lips in a circular motion. Your lips will feel so soft and plumped, it is like magic! But don’t do it too often and don’t forget to add lip balm afterwards.

5.  Bite Beauty LipsticksI am IN LOVE with these high pigment matte pencils from Bite. Available in 21 colours, you are sure to find a nice shade to complement your skin tone. I promise you, it will become your go-to lipstick. Fun facts: Each lip pencil contains the amount of resveratrol found in five glasses of red wine. This super antioxidant, fights free radicals with potent long-term antiaging benefits. It is also free of synthetics, polybutenes, and petroleum byproducts and made exclusively with food-grade ingredients that are healthy enough to eat.

6.  Urban Decay Naked 2 paletteIf you can’t find an eye shadow colour that you like in this palette, I’m not sure where you will. These colours are really versatile and very pigmented. Whether you are doing your makeup for your engagement party, for your rehearsal dinner or just for everyday use, this palette can take you from day to night and from natural to glam in a heartbeat. An absolute must-have in your makeup kit!

7.  The Knot Book of Wedding ListsSo, I’m a organizing freak! When planning for my own wedding, I would write myself to-do lists every week and make one for my fiancé too. Every Monday morning a new to-do list would be in his inbox. Although I think I was a bit crazy, this helped me get through the whole process stress-free. I knew what had to be done and when. If you are like me and you love keeping yourself organized with lists, this book is for you! With all its references, budget tips and advices, this book will be following you everywhere. It is basically your survival guide.

8.  Pretty wedding box: In the next months to come, you will start collecting meaningful objects that will remind you of your wedding: save-the-dates, wedding invitations, inspiration pages ripped out of magazines, DIY creations, etc… Stow them away in a pretty box that is also decorative so you can display it in your home. I adore Kate Spade boxes, but if you like DIY projects, try wrapping a shoe box in your favourite wrapping paper and label it. It will be just as pretty and very you. Winners and Homesense have amazing deco wrapping papers that would work perfectly for this type of project.

9.  A water bottle: The difference between the look of a grape and a raisin? WATER! Oh yes! You will be drinking lots of water if you want your skin to glow on your big day. Try drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day. Carrying a bottle of water around with you can help you get there. The bottle in the picture above is from Target ($15).

10.  Kiehl’s Rare Earth Pore Cleansing MasqueUsing a facial masque once a week is always a good idea. This masque helps purify and detoxify your skin while minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores. In addition, it contains oatmeal and aloe vera that will help soothe, hydrate and protect your skin. I particularly like the tingly feel on my skin – it makes me feel like it is deeply cleaning. You can also use it while bathing. The steam will open your pores and help for a deeper penetration.
