David Dixon White label at World Mastercard Fashion Week

Much to my delight, David Dixon decided to debut his bridal collection, White Label, instead of presenting a fall/winter 2014 collection at the World Mastercard Fashion Week taking place in Toronto last week. The show started with a beautiful video filled with testimonials of love and heartwarming quotes. As stated in this clip, Love never fails … and David Dixon’s designs didn’t fail to impress.

His White Label collection was simple, but unique – allowing the brides’ personality to shine through their bridal attire. Here I say attire since his collection was everything but what you would find in your conventional wedding magazines. No big princess dresses, bouquets or veils here. Instead, pant suits, blush dresses, breezy silks, laser cut flowers and lace fabrics stole the show. To glam up the simplicity of his designs, Dixon partnered once again with Jeweller Rita Tesolin. The marriage between the two designers was absolutely stunning (lots of bling)!

When asked what fashion piece a bride should never neglect on her wedding day, Dixon replied: “A proper fitting bra! First and foremost, spend the money on what touches your body at all times, and work out from there.” In other words, the right bra can make or break the design of your wedding dress, so go shopping for that bra ladies!

Inspired by his mother’s 1953 bridal attire (a pink suit), Dixon designs for the modern romantic woman looking to feel herself but 10 times better! The David Dixon bride is unconventional but values tradition and desires a look that will translate beautifully throughout the years. She doesn’t necessarily want to wear white or ivory.  Dixon changes the rules of the game by introducing colored fabrics and pant suits. “The only rule is to make sure you love the person you’re standing beside. Everything else is fun.”

David Dixon’s White Label collection will be available at the new Kleinfeld’s boutique opening at the Hudson Bay  on Queen St., Toronto this May.
